In-Home Newborn Sessions

The first weeks, exactly how they felt.

These are the days you’ll swear you’ll never forget…

but time and sleepless nights have a way of blurring the details.

The weight of their little body on your chest, mouth open and milk-drunk.

The impossible ache of watching your older children become big siblings.

The delirious, bittersweet joy of your whole world changing before your eyes.

Wrinkly newborn skin and tiny, perfect fingernails.

Endless feedings, wake windows, and trying to make sense of it all.

Not perfectly posed. Not rushed.

Just the baby you waited for, the home you brought them into, and the little moments that are already becoming memories.

The First Weeks at Home

Newborn photos don’t have to happen before you’ve had a chance to breathe.

These sessions are designed for the first weeks at home—once your baby is here, your family is settling in, and the story has started to unfold in the rooms where you’re living it.

Of course we’ll photograph your baby: the delicate fingers, the newborn scrunch, the unexpected sleep smiles, the downy fuzz on the top of their head.

But we’ll also photograph the life happening around them.

The feeding. The rocking. The shushing. The older sibling climbing into your lap. The dog at your feet. The nursery you spent so long dreaming up. The new rhythm your family is settling into together.

Because one day, you won’t just miss how small they were. You’ll miss the way those first weeks felt.

The Details We’ll Document

Your baby
The tiny details, sleepy stretches, soft cheeks, and all the little things changing day by day.

Your connection
The way you hold them, soothe them, feed them, study them, and love them while you’re still learning each other.

Your home
The nursery, the couch, the kitchen, the lived-in rooms where this new chapter is unfolding.

Your family’s story
Siblings, pets, routines, the way your whole house seems to revolve around one tiny person, and the messy, tender first weeks of figuring out life together.

What These Sessions Feel Like

My approach to newborn sessions is relaxed, connected, and gently guided.

I won’t leave you wondering what to do with your hands or where to stand, but I also won’t force your family into stiff poses that don’t feel like you.

Instead, I’ll help you move toward the best light, give you simple prompts when you need them, and leave room for real life to happen.

If the baby needs to eat, we’ll slow down.

If your toddler needs a snack, we’ll make space for that.

If the dog wants to be involved, honestly, even better.

The goal isn’t to make these first weeks look perfect—it’s to help you remember them as they were.

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering…

How old should my baby be for newborn photos?

These sessions are usually best anytime during baby’s first two months at home. Unlike posed newborn sessions, your baby does not need to be under 10 days old. I actually love photographing families once they’ve had a little time to settle in and begin finding their rhythm.

Should I wait until my baby is born to book?

Please don’t, because I would hate for my calendar to already be booked up! I recommend reaching out while you’re still pregnant so we can reserve space around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we’ll choose the session date that feels best for your family.

Can I book maternity and newborn together?

Yes. Maternity and newborn sessions pair beautifully together because they tell two sides of the same story: before your baby arrived and after your family changed forever. If you’re interested in both, please reach out as early as possible so we can plan everything!

What if my house is messy?

I would be worried if it wasn’t! Your house does not need to be perfect. Truly. This season comes with burp cloths, bottles, laundry, toys, snacks, and all the evidence of a family caring for a new baby. We’ll work with the light and spaces you have, and I’ll move anything distracting if needed.

What if my baby cries or needs to eat?

Then we slow down. Feeding, changing, soothing, and snuggling are all part of newborn life. There is no expectation that your baby needs to sleep the whole time or be “easy” for the session to be beautiful.

Can siblings and pets be included?

Absolutely. Siblings and pets are part of the story, and I love including them in natural ways. We’ll let them warm up, take breaks, play, snuggle, and participate in a way that feels true to your family.

These first weeks may feel like a blur while you’re living them.

But one day, they’ll be part of the story you tell.
